Goathland
Back in spring, one of my oldest friends - Craig had come to visit me. We had the intention of going camping for the weekend, but as usual the weather wasn’t playing ball, and we decided to forgo the camping, and instead have a day-trip to Yorkshire, and Whitby. Along the way there is the North Yorkshire Moors railway, which travels from Pickering to Whitby, and provides the perfect day trip activity.
We arrived in Pickering, the train still sat at the station, only to be told we have missed it, despite it staying there a further 10 minutes before it actually left…
Anyway, we carried on the trip by car, stopping off at Goathland, a village used for filming by the television series ‘Heartbeat’, because of its quaint, timeless character, and the location of one of the NYMR stations. We stopped for a warm drink, jam & cream scone, and waited for the train to come through, before continuing our pilgrimage to Whitby, for a fish & chips.
